The Intagtour philosophy PDF Print E-mail

The Intagtour philosophy  is that rural life in Latin America is both fun and healthy for visitors.

The aim of intagtour is to provide a totality of experience for the intelligent traveller and ecotourist, blending extraordinary unspoilt nature with  completely relaxed cultural interaction.

Intagtour was the idea of englishman Ned Cresswell, resident in Intag, and grew out of his frustration at the poverty of authentic travel experience available to visitors to Latin America, who too often find themselves trapped in a series of disappointing lurches betwen one European or US style guest house and another.

The simple thinking behind Intagtour is first, to be considerate of the "creature comforts" rightly needed by our visitors, and second, to offer a whole series of new and unforgettable experiences that provide a genuine insight into Latin American wildlife and culture.  To obtain these insights, yes, you do need to be willing, at times, to prioritise openness to new experience over comfort and familiarity.  But we think that most intelligent travellers already know this, and respond fantastically well once they see how sensitive and considerate local people are to their needs.

Perhaps one of the greatest advantages of the low-key style of adventure ecotourism offered by Intagtour is that everybody wins!  The traveller obtains a welath of remarkable experiences for a fraction of the price he or she would pay to agencies who sometimes almost visibly pant in their effort to recreate Europe or The United States in Latin America; and local people gain a sustainable source of income form a style of ecotourism that demands nothing of them except that they continue to be their usual charming and hospitable selves.

Have a look over the website and accompanying blog, and if you feel drawn to this corner of Ecuador, a warm welcome awaits you.
